Creating a 7-Day Informational Email Course With ChatGPT

This week, I used ChatGPT-4 to create a 7-part email course from scratch.

In this email, I’ll share the prompts I used, and share a Google Doc with the emails that GPT wrote. You can copy the process for any type of business to use as a lead magnet, or offer this as a service to other businesses.

Let’s dive right in, start with planning the course material.

Prompt #1
Let's create an educational email course for my business. We're going to send 7 educational emails about the benefits of SEO.

The purpose of this is to grow my email list, and attract new clients.

Start by listing out 10 ideas for educational emails we can include in the course.

I only want 7 topics, but getting 10 ideas allows you to choose the best topics. I also added a topic that GPT didn’t suggest, because I thought it was important. So, I used 6/10 suggestions from GPT.

I chose SEO because it’s a topic I’m familiar with. I know what needs to be in the course. If you’re doing this with a topic you’re less familiar with, you might need to do some additional research.

The next prompt creates an outline of the first email.

Prompt #2
Great! Let's use these 7 topics:

1. Basics of SEO
2. On-page SEO
3. Off-page SEO
4. Local SEO
5. Content marketing and SEO
6. The ROI of SEO
7. SEO trends and future

Create an outline of what we should include in the first email about the basics of SEO.

This created a good outline of an informational email.

I lightly edited the outline to eliminate some redundant, unnecessary information.

I wanted each email to be around 1,000 words long. To do this, I needed to write them in two parts. GPT-4 will only write ~550 words in each response.

Prompt 3a
Please write the first half of email #1 based on the following outline. The writing should be long, informative, and business casual. The email will be sent as one part, and this first half should be 500 words long.

Subject Line: Kickstart Your Business Growth with SEO: The Basics

Introduction
- Warm welcome and brief course overview.

What is SEO?
- Brief definition of SEO and its importance for businesses.

How SEO affects your website
- Introduction to how SEO impacts website visibility.
- Explanation of organic search results vs paid results.
- Importance of being on the first page of search results.

Prompt 3b
Write the second half of the email based on the following outline. The writing should be long, informative, and business casual. The email will be sent as one part, and this second half should be 500 words long.

Why SEO is important for your business
- SEO as a cost-effective marketing strategy.
- The role of SEO in building brand credibility and trust.
- SEO’s impact on user experience and website usability.

A look ahead
- Preview of the next topic: On-page SEO.

Call to Action
- Encourage replies with questions, remind of your SEO services, and invite shares.

Conclusion
- Quick recap of key points and excitement for the next part of the series.

I repeated Prompts 2, 3a, and 3b to write the other six emails.

You can read the emails that ChatGPT wrote in this Google Doc:

The raw quality– just copying & pasting from GPT– is 6/10.

It’s fine, but not great.

With some basic editing, you could get your emails to a solid 8/10.

Try this out, and share it with a friend!
