Using ChatGPT + DALL·E for Business Branding 🎨

Using ChatGPT + DALL·E for Business Branding 🎨

I start a handful of new projects every year– new blogs, social media accounts, eComm stores, a newsletter. If I had the time, I’d start a new project every day.

One of the first things I do is create basic brand guidelines.

  • Name

  • Logo

  • 4 colors

  • 2 fonts

  • Tagline

In today’s newsletter, I share how I used AI tools to create the brand guidelines for this newsletter. Since it’s about AI + marketing, it only makes sense to use AI for the marketing.

1. Brainstorming names with ChatGPT

The first thing I needed was a name.

Prompt #1
I want to start a newsletter sharing how to use AI tools to help entrepreneurs and businesses with marketing. Can you suggest some interesting name ideas?

I told GPT a bit about my newsletter, and got a list of 24 ideas. All of the ideas had “AI” in the name, which I didn’t want. My next prompt was: “I don't want "AI" in the name.”

That got me 24 more name ideas.

  1. "Tech-Forward Marketing"

  2. "The Predictive Profiteer"

  3. "Data Deep Dive: Business Edition"

  4. "Algorithmic Advantage"

  5. "Proactive Profits"

  6. "Entrepreneurial Elevation"

  7. "Innovative Impact"

  8. "The Marketing Optimizer"

  9. "Digital Disruption Digest"

  10. "The Future-Proof Business"

  11. "Next-Level Marketing"

  12. etc.

Those seemed a bit bland, so I asked: “Can you add some funny names?” and we got Marketing Hertz, right after "Bits, Bots, and Marketing Plots".

Prompting Tip: This one is a process. There’s not a single prompt that will guarantee you the perfect name. Start with a broad explanation of your project, and refine your prompt.

2. Logo

Prompt #2
I'm going to use Marketing Hertz (Hz). Can you describe a good logo for my newsletter?

I didn’t know what I wanted to use for my logo, and I didn’t end up using ChatGPT’s suggestion, but it got the ball rolling.

ChatGPT Logo Description

I created the logo in Canva, using the electric blue color, and a radio tower rather than a radio wave. I also used the font combination suggested.

3. Colors + Fonts

ChatGPT already suggested some colors and fonts in the logo description, so I’m going to get more info about those. I hate scrolling through the never-ending rolodex of fonts.

Prompt #3
Suggest some popular fonts for this: Consider using a modern and sleek typeface for "Marketing" and a more playful, perhaps slightly retro, one for "Hertz (Hz)" to create a visually appealing contrast.

We got 5 modern and 5 retro fonts. I picked two and they looked good in Canva.

Prompt #4
Suggest some color codes for this: The color scheme could be vibrant and energetic, using colors like electric blue and neon green to signify the digital, technology-driven theme.

That gave me 4 color codes (I only used one of them).

Note: I’m not a branding expert or professional designer. I needed to get some decent ideas quickly, and this worked well.

4. Tagline

I needed a one-sentence description of my newsletter, and I was stuck.

Prompt #5
I need help writing a tagline for the business. As a reminder, my newsletter will help people use AI tools to do various marketing tasks. Write a few single sentence ideas that describe my newsletter.

That gave me 15 tagline ideas.

I liked "Bridging the gap between marketing and AI." and asked for some similar taglines. And I asked for some funnier ones. I didn’t end up using any of the suggestions, but they got me thinking, and helped me come up with “The AI newsletter for marketers.”

5. Creating a Character

I remember Shaan Puri talking about the character he created for The Milk Road newsletter. Maybe I could create something similar.

Prompt #6
I want to create a character for this business. I'm the writer, but they'll be referenced in most of my newsletters. They're funny and a bit nerdy about AI, but helpful to the reader.

We got an in-depth description of a business character.

I changed the name of our new hire, but took the description from GPT and put it into DALL·E to create a unique character—Webstah.

That’s all I’ve got so far– I hope you can use some of these prompt ideas to create branding for your new project!
